We'd like to introduce a new music video for our song "Lovers Recipe" about love and loss. We hope you like it! The goal was to make a dreamy, collage-like visual piece with strong themes of loneliness and heartbreak to match the song. The story line is purposefully abstract and up to interpretation. We have ideas of what's happening here and are curious to hear what you think it's about!
We added a new element to this site! Now all of our released songs have their own page dedicated to them, complete with full lyrics, an artist statement, and the streaming song. Some of them include music videos and press quotes too. Check it out by clicking a song on our music page!
Due to a couple unrelated complications, two shows were canceled from the tour. The Shire was a DIY music venue in Modesto where we were planning to play next month. Unfortunately they were shut down by the city, which is super sad because we (and many folks) loved that place. It was a cute clean shack with a beautiful stage located in the back of a communal household of creative young folks in Modesto. They were professional and positive. We will truly miss you Shire!
The San Diego event was canceled due to scheduling problems, but thankfully we have a gig in La Mesa, CA just right around the corner where we'll be playing a three hour set. So anyone in San Diego hoping to see us still can without much inconvenience.
We’re hitting the road for our biggest tour yet! We’d love to see the buddies we don’t get to see often enough. Drop us a line and let’s get together to catch up, even if briefly, as our schedule might be tight. Please come to the shows of course as we’d like to share our music with you. Bring some friends and help us spread this music we’ve created to farther reaches. (Most of the performances are free!) To our Bay Area folks, we’re playing at three great Oakland fairs. Come say hi!

Our Washington and Oregon tour dates are all set and now we're focusing on our home state of California! In addition to an art fair and street festival in Oakland, we've just added three more CA gigs. We'll be playing in a couple cute cafes in Roseville (Acoustic Den Cafe) and San Luis Obispo (Linnaea's Cafe), both famous for featuring great live acoustic music. In LA we're opening for the incredibly entertaining local Psy-Country-Pop band, Albert & His Dreamboats, at a venue called the Escondite. Check out our Tour Page for details on all the performances and stay tuned for a couple more CA dates! Can't wait to hit the road again this June :)
It's happening! We've secured a string of dates in Oregon (Portland, Hood River, Medford, Ashland, and Eugene) as well as Seattle, WA and our hometown of Oakland, CA. There are more California dates on the way, including Sacramento, SLO County, LA, and more. Check back with our Tour Dates to stay tuned with new developments. We're excited to hit the road again this Summer, to see old friends and make new ones :)
We're excited to announce we'll be touring the Pacific West Coast this Summer! In June, we'll be playing in California, Oregon and Washington hitting big cities like Portland and Seattle as well as some small towns along the way. Check our Tour page over the next couple months to watch the shows pop up. If you'd like to see us play in your city, shoot us a message and we'll try to make it happen!
A couple friends of ours lost their lives in the Oakland Ghost Ship fire early December. Like us, they were an East Bay guy/girl duo band. Their sound featured crooning Frank-Sinatra-esque vocals over electronic soundscapes with upbeat, dancy rhythms. They coined this new genre "CroonWave". Search the hashtag #croonwave and you'll find tons of their media.
They called themselves Introflirt, cleverly emphasizing Ben's introverted lifestyle and Denalda's outgoing personality. See a live video of one of their songs in concert. Their shows were always a lot of fun.
You can check out more music and videos at the links below. If you'd like you can join others as we pay homage by following the Introflirt pages, or by buying their music and other merch at their BandCamp page.
It's been two years since we started the band. Time flies! We thought our first year was active, but we certainly topped it this last year. In 2016 we...
Which included being on the radio for the first time! We played LIVE on KPFA 94.1FM in Berkeley, CA and were interviewed on KVMR 89.5FM in Nevada City, CA...
We also released our first music video with acting, for our song "Kicking Soot", directed by Nicky Tait with acting by the beautiful Joia De Vita...
Made a LIVE music video in Portland with Shady Pines Media for our song "Lovers Recipe" that was premiered by SF Critic, the Bay Area music blog who said, "Oakland based Willow Steps have been sowing these acoustic seeds for barely two years, but are already harvesting some of the more gorgeous harmonies in town." ...
Thank you to all the folks last year who supported our crowd-funding campaign, who made music videos with us, and who came out to see us play. We couldn't have done all this fun stuff without you and that's the truth. We hope to do more touring in 2017 and to spread our music even further.
